As New York Fashion Week wraps up, it’s difficult not to fall into a midday reverie—or an Instagram Stories binge—as you consider your favorite looks. But even the most dedicated fashion fans may not have a concrete need for a silk cocktail hour ensemble, or a mid-calf leopard trench coat.

And even if your daily life does require that type of dressing, you’ll have to wait to access those items.

Luckily, fashion and home design share plenty of inspirational overlap, as the Fall 2018 Ready-to-Wear collections presented in New York this past week prove.

Take Ralph Lauren’s first look for example, shown earlier today. The indigo resist-dye style fabric seen on said dress is easily reminiscent of the oceanic textiles in Areté Complete’s own designs.

And while Brock Collection continued its homage to 17th-century French woven silks with dentelle and floral patterns this week, paper designer Antoinette Poisson also looks to similar historic sources on a regular basis. What’s more, Brandon Maxwell‘s pops of citron are easily attainable in the form of, say, a set of towels from ABC Carpet Home.

All this isn’t to suggest that any one of these pairings should be read as a literal, and exact, comparison. But they illuminate the general red thread that tends to weave its way through the two industries.

Besides, before you can get your hands on that show-stopping Brandon Maxwell dress, your bathroom might just need its own NYFW-inspired pop of color. Above, eight ideas for bringing New York Fashion Week into your home today.
