Calling all women students at Great Falls College MSU: The American Association of Women in Community Colleges (AAWC) is planning to hold a local clothing drive called “The Women’s Closet.”
The AAWC has been collecting clothing donations from the community over the past few months.
The drive will feature women’s professional clothing, including shoes, jackets, dress pants, tops, scrubs and much more.
This is the second year the AAWC is hosting a women’s professional clothing drive at the college.
The drive is meant to help provide women students with clothing, even though they may not have the time, money or ability to go out themselves.
AAWC President Heather Palermo said the main point is to help students get a job out of college.
Palermo added, “I think for our students it’s important because when you’re dressed nice for an interview, you go in with that confidence, or even if you already have a job and you just need some more professional clothing, again it gives you that confidence to get that job, or move up in that job you already have, or just present yourself in a very professional way.”
The clothing drive is for Great Falls College MSU students only and is set from Tuesday, April 16 to Friday April 19.
The times of the clothing drive are as follows:
Tuesday, April 16: 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Wednesday, April 17: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Thursday, April 18: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Friday, April 19: 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.
The college will also host a free professional skills workshop on Friday, April 19.
The schedule for the workshop will be:
Ramp up your Resume: 9 a.m.
Dress and Interview for Success, Effective Interviewing Skills: 10 a.m.
Job Hunting, Where do I begin?: 11 a.m.
Any clothing left over from the drive will be donated to the YWCA.
