Timothée Chalamet is still riding high from Sunday’s Golden Globes, as you can see by his sheer giddiness on Wednesday’s Tonight Show. And he has good reason to be giddy, after being in two of 2017’s most critically acclaimed movies, Lady Bird and Call Me by Your Name, the second one earning him a Best Actor nomination.
Sadly for him, that award went to Gary Oldman, but Chalamet certainly doesn’t seem down about it. He’s practically bouncing out of his seat, raving about getting to meet Angelina Jolie and then Jennifer Aniston and not saying anything awkward to them. Jimmy Fallon, meanwhile, is in full uncle mode, constantly telling Chalamet how proud he is and bringing up embarrassing stories about Chalamet toppling out of a chair on camera.
We had one rehearsal that was like a nice ice-breaker, and, you know, I don’t have to tell the whole story, but that’s my brother now. We had the National Board of Review Awards last night, and then I was like—He’s in bed with his wife last night, I’m in his hotel room, and I don’t know what gave me like free license, I was like, “Ah! I’m gonna get in there with you guys!”
Normal boundaries will come back in time. And if not, hopefully they can bring that energy back for a sequel.
