Women’s health issues raised

In January of this year the Breast Centre of Cyprus became a reality. Now, to further focus on women’s interests and breast cancer concerns, the first Cyprus Breast Health Forum will take place on Thursday in Nicosia.

The forum, which will hopefully become an annual event, aims to be an event where knowledge and experiences on issues related to breast disorders – especially cancer – can be exchanged. It will also raise awareness and provide women with the information they need on prevention and early diagnosis.

This first forum will be separated into two parts. The first, in Greek, will be a public event. This part of the forum will focus on information on different topics concerning breast cancer.

The second part, in English, will be for medical professionals. The speakers, world renowned doctors and scientists specialising in breast issues, will be able to share their knowledge, experience and expertise with fellow attending medical professionals.

Registration will begin at 8am, followed by a welcome speech and an introduction to the symposium. The talks will begin at 8.50am and continue until 12pm with a coffee break at 9.50am. Some of the topics of the morning session are Breast Cancer and the Body/ Mind Relationship and Pain Management During Breast Cancer Treatment.

The second part of the forum will begin at 1pm after lunch and run until 6pm, with a coffee break at 2.45pm. There will also be a panel discussion at 4.50pm.

After the forum, at 8pm, Health Minister Constantinos Ioannou will officially inaugurate the Breast Centre of Cyprus, which is at Karyatides Business Centre, Makrasikas 3, Strovolos. During the opening of the centre and until June 30, paintings by Andreas and Nikola Ladommatou will be on display. Part of the proce from the sale of these paintings will be donated to Europa Donna Cyprus.
